Creating Your Pet's Environment
Hamsters
Hamsters are very active; therefore, you should purchase the largest cage you can afford and that will fit in the space allowed for your pet. Be sure to add a wheel for running and a tube to crawl inside (one purchased from your local pet store or an empty cardboard tube such as from toilet paper). As hamsters like to hide and sleep in a closed space, include a small container with an entrance hole, such as a box or flowerpot, for this purpose.
Your pet’s cage should be placed in cool area of the home with low humidity and good ventilation (but no drafts). Avoid placing the cage in direct sunlight. Your hamster will enjoy a stimulating environment, but the room should be free of other animals.
Cover the bottom of your hamster’s cage with 1- 2 inches of Clean-N-Comfy® litter/bedding or Aspen Supreme™ pellets. We recommend changing the litter every 10-15 days. Depending upon the type and number of animals, and caretaker preference, time between cage cleanings may be extended by scooping and replacing soiled areas. You may also use Natural Corn Cobs small animal litter/bedding.
No Green Pet products contain pine or cedar.
Please remember to consult your local pet store or veterinarian with specific questions related to the overall care and health of your pet.
